What We're Seeking
We are actively seeking stories for our anthologies, and also book-length works. Please study our needs below carefully before you submit. If you want to submit a query or book proposal, please scroll to the bottom of this page.

Voices Of Series

The critically acclaimed Voices Of series of anthologies is the cornerstone of the LaChance Publishing catalog. Designed as support groups in book form, these volumes are filled with candid, revealing and often inspiring stories of literary merit by individuals who have been touched by chronic and life threatening illnesses. For examples, please visit the Bookstore and click on any book to read an excerpt.

Voices Of volumes feature primarily first person stories. In preparing your story, focus on the personal and emotional aspects with which readers will readily identify. Your story should be 500-3,000 words. Voices Of books include essays on the science of the illness under discussion written by established authorities in the medical or scientific communities; therefore, we ask that those writers who do not meet these criteria avoid prolonged discussion of the medical aspects of the condition in their stories. If you are an established authority in the science and/or treatment of one of the medical conditions that is the subject of an upcoming volume and you are interested in contributing, please contact us at richard@lachancepublishing.com.

Voices Of Story Topics

We receive hundreds of stories each year. As a result, it is impossible for us to review and consider stories on diseases or illnesses other than those listed below at this time. Additional story topics will be added as we progress through the book series, so check back regularly. We are not accepting poetry at this time.

Alzheimer’s Disease
Anorexia/Bulimia
Breast Cancer
Depression
Epilepsy

MORE Good Dogs Doing Good

Following on the success of Good Dogs Doing Good, we’re planning a second volume of uplifting, true stories of dogs that have transformed people’s lives.

What we need: True stories of literary merit that show the real, positive and transformative impact a dog has had in your life or the lives of your family or loved ones. For example, has a dog aided you through an illness or given you new insights on yourself or your life? Good Dogs Doing Good itself is the best reference. Your story should be 500-3,000 words.

What we do NOT need: Stories that focus primarily on a dog’s adorable characteristics.

Deadlines:

Deadlines for story Voices Of and More Good Dogs Doing Good are open-ended unless otherwise noted. But if you have something you would like us to read, please submit it at your earliest convenience.

Book Proposals and Queries

We are accepting queries and proposals for book-length projects in the categories of non-fiction adult, young adult and juvenile health and fitness. We are pleased to accept proposals from professionals in the health/science fields. We prefer agented projects but will consider projects of merit from qualified individuals without agent representation.
